If you have ever thought of becoming an accountant then, this article is for you. You will learn everything you ever wanted to know about being an accountant such as the salary they earn, the dangers or what is their typical days look like, and many more. I am motivated to write it because I want to share my passion and make sure that other people find their own passion. So, I believe that if I give these people, you guys, a glimpse of the accountant job, it would be easier to see if that job is really for you or not.

Many people are persuaded that accountants have to be good at math and that is all they do all day long, but it is false because in fact we really only use our logic. Yes, there are numbers, but it's mostly software that's doing the math for us. Also, it is true that it can be routine and dull, but if you get to the exciting part of accounting it is really mostly about processes and business partnerships.
What do accountants do?
In general accountants keep and interprets financial records. To some extent, they are considered like the doctors of a company because they are the ones who make sure that the company is not going bankrupt. Most of the time, they either have individual clients, business clients or they take charge of finance related duty.
What do accountants do on a typical day?
Despite the daily tasks that may vary depending on the position and organization, there are many functions that accountants in general do: " making sure the exactitude of the financial documents, Preparing and maintaining important financial reports, preparing tax returns and insuring those taxes are paid on schedule, evaluate financial reports situation and making sure that their clients are financially better and highlighting the issues and giving advice to grow profits.
Where do accountants work?
Accountants work at various places such as, accounting firms where they offer public accounting services and where they mostly work with personal or business accounts. There are also government agency where accountants work for the government. Non-profit organizations are for the professionals who love charities. They will most likely hire first starter accountants that have an associate degree. Finally, accountants can work in the comfort of their home, thanks to the Wi-Fi access and software advancement.
How can I become accountant?
First of all, you have to acquire an accounting degree level, then you can start working and earn work experience. Having a master certification can be beneficial for a better position. Being licensed is often what most companies look for. Lastly, pursuing certification is the cherry on the sundae, because this will definitely stand you out in the job market.
How much money do accountants make?
In entry-level accountants earns around C$43,000. After 1-4 years of experience the salary up to C$49,000. In the mid career the salary can go to C$56,000. An experienced accountant's salary is around C$61,000 and in their late careers they earn around C$64,000.

Effectively, CPD, continuous professional development are essential to keep your skills up-to-date. There are many classes that you can take: GAAP updates, Government, Taxation, Fraud, Audit risk assessments, Accounting for assets under IFRS, Management leadership, bankruptcy, business valuation, corporate tax, and more.

The dangers of being an accountant are often health issues that result in back problems when you sit hours at a desk. Weight gain, accountants don't really move while working and are mostly too tired to do anything after work. Also, many accountants struggle with depression, because of dull days. Exhaustion is a feeling that accountants feel at a certain part of the year when the charge of work is heavy.
What are the chances that accountants will be replaced by robots soon?
Bernard Marr, an author specializing in business, technology, and big data, has speculated in a report for Forbes “it is high time for every accountant to reflect on their job, identify the opportunities machine learning could offer to them, and focus less on the tasks that can be automated and more on those inherently human aspects of their jobs”. This summarizes that robots will replace accountants for a long time, however, AI will strongly disturb and change the profession.
What age do accountants retire at?
Most accountants retire around 62 to 70. Day by day from now till my 60s is my precious time to make the best of it. I know that even after I retire, it is also a precious time, but before that, I have to discover myself, my flaws, and my strength. That is why I will do my best to take every opportunity.
